Study conducted with the aim of assessing results of surgical treatment of the duodenum injury. Results: from 1/2000 to 12/2008 Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi, 74 cases of duodenal trauma is operated emergency, in which were :63 male (85.1 percent ), 11 women (14.9 percent )
the average age was 12.6 + or -31.7 (range from 11 to 69 years) caused by traffic accidents were 46 cases (62.1 percent ), labour: 7 (9.5 percent ), activities: 21 (28.4 percent ). Clinical examination at the admission were 11 cases of shock (28'.9 percent ), 12 of peritonitis (21.9 percent ), 34 of abdominal contracture (45.9 percent ) and 17 of unknown symptoms. Examination of amylase in blood was up 80.5 percent
the abdominal x-ray and ultrasound were lower effective diagnostic (15.3 percent
14.3 percent ), the CT scan was 71.4 percent . based on classification of AAST-OIS, the duodenal injury surgery were success reaching 83.8 percent
complications after surgery were of 25.7 percent
deaths of 16.2 percent. Time stay in hospital was averaging 13.8 + or -'9.2 days (range 5-70 days). The mortality rate is closely related to the time treated 24h after the crash with p 0.05.
