HPV is the cause of cervical cancer which is the leading cancer in women world and Vietnamese women. Studying the rate of HPV infection and its genotypes in abnormal Pap's mear women and comparing to histology will give information useful in screening, prognostics and management of cerviacl cancer. Objective: To identify the HPV infection rate and relationship its genotypes distribution on women with Asc, LSIL, and HSIL. Method: Sectional descriptive research via HPV type test using PCR techniques at the National Hospital of Dermatology with 1000 Paps'smear taken from women in Thua Thien-Hue province. The reaserch timeframe was May 2011 - August 2011. Results: There were 1000 women with the group age of 30-50 is highest, 67.7 percent. The HPV infection rate was 8.6 percent in which low rick group occupied 49 turn infection and high rick group occupied 85 turn infection. The low-risk types found included: 6, 11, 71 and 81. The high-risk types found included: 16, 18, 31, 35, 39, 45, 53, 58, 59, and 66. The HPV infection rate increased along with lesion grade. HPV 16 and 18 were two most common genotypes. HPV results reflected the agreement with cytology anf other studies. Conclusion: The rate of HPV infection in the community was 8.6 percent, including 14 types. HPV 16 and 18 were two most common genotypes. The HPV infection rate increased along with lesion grade.
