In the Indian struggle from autonomy to republic, the 1950 Constitution set up basic legal foundation for the development of independent India. The issues raised in the Constitution are the highest achievement of the national independence struggle, and they have become the basis for Indian democracy construction. The article focuses on clarifying some difficulties in the drafting process, the basic content as well as the historical value of the first democratic Constitution in India.
