The intervention program "strengthening the activity of examination and treatment in traditional medicine (TM) hospital is applied as a pilot case in Hung Yen province. The study objective aims to assess the effectiveness of the program after 2 year of intervention. Methods: intervention study, comparing pre-post intervention, as well as comparing to the control hospital. Results: increasing knowledge of TM doctors interms of old TM remedies, Vietnamese herb remedies (276.6 percent and 180.7 percent)
improving their skills on prescription and counseling (77.2 percent and 66.6 percent)
increasing the skill of nurses/assistant doctors on acupuncture and massage (46.3 percent and 82.9 percent)
the TM services are diversified (increasing 67.5 and 81.8 percent percent), increasing number of patients to examination, inter and out patients, patients having insurance and patients paid by themselves (277.3 percent, 46 percent. 96.5 percent. 847.6 percent and 109.1 percent). Conclusion: The intervention program in Hung yen TM hospital after 2 year of implementing has gained good achievements and contributed to improve the TM services in hospitals.
