The rhizomes of Drynaria bonii H. Christ (Polypodiaceae) have been used for treatment of osteoporosis, healing bone fractures. Five compounds: a-tocopherol (1), 24-methylenecycloartan-3beta-ol(2), triphyllol (3), chrysophanol (4), and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5) were isolated from the rhizomes of Drynaria bonii by using column chromatography. Their structures were elucidated by ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic data analysis. This is the first time these compounds were isolated from Drynaria genus.
