Objective: To assess the initial outcomes of transhiatal esophagectomy for esophageal cancer. Material and method: From 2010 to 2011, 18 patients of esophageal cancer underwent transhiatal esophagectomy: 2 patients with cancer of cervical esophagus, 5 cancers of lower third and 11 cancers of esophagogastric junction.
