Coffee growers in almost Son La coffee areas have not applied major technical measures such as planting, taking care, particularly preventing pests. This report initially showed some survey results on sequence of coffee berry disease variables, infection rate of coffee berry disease and the tests for a number of chemical pesticides preventing coffee berry disease (Colletotrichum coffeanum) on coffee trees. The investigating results on this appearance and development indicated that this disease occurred and damaged round year and reached a peak in early and within harvesting time period (from October to December). Infected coffee trees and damaged rate caused by coffee berry disease in the garden coffee, with shade trees were lower than without shade trees. Canopy pruning reduced damaged rate caused by coffee berry disease due to a decrease of nutritive competition among protruding shoots, disable branches and stems and efficient branches. Balancing fertilizer application (N:P:K with amount of 250:100:300 kg/ha respectively) decreased damaged rate compared to application of other rate and amount of N, P and K Using chemical fertilizer and manure combination, especially pig manure or coffee fruit straw led to partly prevent the disease. Different chemical pesticides provided different efficiencies in preventing coffee berry disease. Out of which, the effect of Tilt 250 EC (0.10 percent) was the highest (87.5 percent)
followed by Anvil 5EC (0.15 percent) (the effect of 84.6 percent) and the last by CarBenzim 500 FL (0.20 percent) with the effect of 70.4 percent after 30 days spraying.
