Objective: Determining the prevalence of osteoporosis in menopausal women in Cam Ranh city, Khanh Hoa province in 2010-2011. Methods: Quantitative research using cross sectional study design, conducted on the 755 menopause women at Cam Ranh city, Khanh Hoa province in 2010-2011. Results: The average age of the research group: 57.86 + or - 6.74
the highest rate is housewife profession: 51.4 percent
next to that trade profession: 24,6 percent
a farmer: 14,3 percent
others: 4,6 percent, officials: 3,6 percent
the profession of fisherman occupy rate: 1,5 percent
there is no statistics meaningful difference of osteoporosis between urban areas and rural
the difference between rates of osteoporosis ,and no osteoporosis according to the economy with 95 percent reliability
the research group who qre from primary school or less: 42,8 percent is more than the research group who are from the secondary school or higer: 31,8 percent. Conclusion: the average age of menopause: 49,60 + or - 3,50
the most early menopause: 37 years, the longest menopause: 59
normal rate, no osteoporosis: 21,3 percent
the Osteopenia rate: 40,0 percent
the Osteoporosis rate: 38,7 percent. Age greater osteoporosis rate increases. Economic difficulties have increased rates of osteoporosis. Low education levels have increased rates of osteoporosis.
