The research was conducted in Tien Phong and Chau Son communes, Ha Nam province. The results are follows: In Tien Phong commune: 51 percent people said that latrine were sanitary and 34 percent have two-compartment latrine. Tap water and rain water, the most ensured source of water account for highest rate of 94 percent while 55 percent for wells. The rate of households collects and landfillthe garbage is the highest 60 percent, 13 percent for burning and others. The rate of households with pits for cattle manure is 62 percent, to promiscuity 32 percent. In Chau Son commune: 99 percent of local people said that the toilets were sanitary, 29 percent for two-compartment latrines, 16 percent for pour flush latrines and 12 percent for toillet vent. They said that clean water source was rain water (87 percent) and water in the wells (77 percent). The households landfilling the garbage account for 56 percent, 28 percent for incineration , 11 percent for others. The rate of the households have pits for manure is 82 percent, 11 percent for the uncontroled manure.
