 Method: The authors conducted a cross-sectional study on 528 workers in five factories and assessed their working environment at But Son cement factory of Ha Nam province from 2009 to 2010. Findings: 1- In terms of working environment of But Son cement factory: Air temperature, noise, dust exceeded the permitted standards, especially in the following sections: Cement Workshop (38.69oC and 88.59dBA)
  Packaging workshop (Dust is 6.04mg/m3). The speed of the wind in four workshops, namely Materials, Fireplace, Cement and Packaging, was lower than permitted standards. 2- Workers who are healthy enough to work (health grade of category I, II, III) accounted for about: 90.34 percent. Although the number of workers with type IV and V were low (9.47 percent and 0.19 percent), they must received more attention. Workers had many common diseases, with ENT conditions accounted for the highest percentage (49.62 percent), followed by Stomatological diseases (47.54 percent), eyes diseases (21.4 percent), gastrointestinal (13.83 percent), and gynecological diseases among women (25.37 percent). Occupational diseases of workers included silicosis (2.46 percent) and the Noisy Deafness (0.19 percent). Recommendations: Factory's Directors should have immediate plans to reduce and eliminate some harmful conditions in professional workshops such as heat, noise, and dust. They should improved ventilation. And workers with type IV and V of health should be sent to specialists for examination and treatment.
