Background: Accumulate of visceral fat rises metabolic disorders. So, visceral fat amount can provide many information of metabolic. There are many ways for measuring visceral fat from simple such as waist circumference to complex as abdomen untrasound, CT Scan, MRI. The authors perform this study to determine correlate degree of visceral fat amount by waist circumference compared with that by abdomen untrasound. Objectives: Determine correlation between waist circumference with visceral fat thicknesses by abdomen untrasound. Methods: Cross - sectional prospective study performed with 191 hypertension patients. All of patients were evaluated for waist circumference, abdomen untrasound in the same day. Evaluation correlate degree by pearson coefficient. Results: Waist circumference correlate with visceral fat thicknesses by abdomen untrasound strong in man, r = 0,79 (p = 0,000), medium in woman, r = 0,42 (p = 0,000). Conclusions: Waist circumference shows clearly visceral fat in men. So, it should be performed normally in men with hypertension.
