Objectives: To describe the anatomical characteristics of the SCV, the UV and their relations to surrounding structures. Design: Cross-sectional, anatomical study of human cadavers. Setting: Anatomy Department, University Medical Center, Ho Chi Minh city. Subjects: 27 human cadavers (16 males, 11 females, age range: 49 - 90) were conveniently selected for this study. The Chi Square Test was used for statistical analysis of data. Results: Diameters, lenghts and relations to surrounding structures of the SCV and the IJV were recorded. Some anatomical pitfalls and complications associated with eve were also disscussed. Conclusions: These findings suggest that anatomical characteristics may partly account for the advantages and the disadvantages of using the sev and the IJV in eve.
