Objectives: survey some factors affecting the knowledge, action on HIV/AIDS prevention of injecting drug users (lDUs). Methods: cross-sectional description, randomly selected 25 venues, where IDUs usually come. Interviewed all voluntarily participated in the study about: education, accessibility and condom use behavior, needle use behavior, IDUs time and the HIV testing. Results: IDUs illiteracy and low education (elementary) use a condom during sex accounted for 25.00 percent, lower than those who qualified secondary school or higher (48.37 percent) without statistical significance (p 0.05).Condom use among IDUs have access to and get condoms is 56.98 percent, signifICantly higher (p 0.05) compared to those who could not access to condoms (34.85 percent). The proportion of HIV infection in IDUs who used condoms during sex is 5.43 percent, significantly lower (p 0.05) compared to no condom use (20.53 percent).Proportion of needle sharing among secondary school level and above is 8.75 percent lower than the group with primary education and illiteracy (10.53 percent) without statistical significance (p 0, 05). There are still some IDUs sharing needles (8.88 percent). IDUs with more than 5 years history of using drug get HIV positive accounted for 31.00 percent, 3 times higher compared to the group with less than 5 yeared history (10.20 percent), the difference was statistically significant (p 0.05).). Conclusions: Access to condoms and syringes behavior related to the use of condoms and needles and have the effect of reducing HIV infection in IDUs. The longer time IDUs using drug, the higher risk of infection.
