 The study examined medical records of 16 patients diagnosed with psychogenic dysphonia at the Department of ENT, Thai Nguyen National General Hospital during a 7-year period from 2005-2012. The author found that the condition was seen at any ages, mainly 90 (37.5 percent) and 50 (31.25 percent). The female/male ratio was 3/1. 68.75 percent had sudden onset after various situations. Physical symptoms were not typical
  personality characteristics were suggestive. Voice symptoms were variable. Laryngeal signs were minor or absent and were not correlated with voice symptoms. Psychotherapy quickly restored the voice but the recurrence rate was high (36.36 percent). The author recommended careful consultation for patients and families to avoid recurrence. Psychogenic dysphonia is seen at primary health care centres. Attention should be paid to the condition for accurate diagnosis and early treatment.
