During 2 growing seasons (Spring 2010 and Summer 2011), at the practical center of Thai Nguyen University 'of Agriculture and Forestry, 2 field trials had been carried out to find the effect of deferent fertilizer compounds to the growth, development and yield of some upland rice varieties. The experiment consist of 4 fertilizer compounds (Pl,P2,P3,P4) and 5 upland rice varieties. The result showed that fertilizer effecting significantly to seedling capacity (maximum seedling number, reproductive seedling number) of 5 trial varieties at both growing seasons at 95 percent level. The reaction between fertilizer and variety promoted maximum seedling numbers only and did not increased the number of reproductive seedlings yet. Applying higher fertilizer levels increased significantly to LAI, long-lasting leaves and dry matter of upland rice of both growing seasons. LAI and dry matters of upland rice can bee obtained highest values at P4 fertilizer level. Applying extra fertililer promoted almost yield components and yield of upland rice excepting P.1000 seed value. However, Just P4 fertilizer level had produced harvested yield as high as P3 and P4 ones. Thus, it is suggested that P2 fertilizer level is the suitable one to apply for upland rice.
