Objectives: The aime of this study is to evaluate the surgical results of meningioma and factors prognostics affecting surgicals results. Material and Methods: A prospective study include 204 meningiomas patients diagnosed and underwent surgical treatment in Neurosurgery Department, Viet-Duc Hospital in period from 10/2006 to 12/2008. Results: Good result (KPS 60 - 100): 67.2 percent
Poor result (KPS a - 50): 32.8 percent. The symptoms times less than 6 months was significantly associated with the post operation results (OR = 1.41, 95 percent CI = 2.87 - 5.91). The meningioma location (convexity, parasagittal, falx, skull base...) was significantly associated with the surgical results (OR: 1.76, 95 percent CI: 0.94 - 3.34). The total tumor removal (Simpson I, II) was significantly associated with the surgical result (OR: 3.72, 95 percent CI = 3.82 8.27). Conclusion: These factors (tumors location, symptoms time, total tumors removal, patients status preoperation were affecting the surgical result of meningioma. Intervention to these factors can improve the success of the menigioma surgical treatments.
