Having sets of screening cell panel with standard, high quality and specific of Vietnamese is necessary to deploy irregular antibodies screening test for patients who were transfused blood to ensure transfusion safety. Objective: study on quality of sets of screening cell panel in NIHBT. Materials: 5 lots of screening cell panel which were made in NIHBT ff
om December 2009 to May 2010 and 1 set of screening cell which was made in National Blood Centre Thai Red Cross Society in January 2010. Methods: crosssectional survey. Using tube technique and gelcard technique to assess agglutination of blood group antigens and direct Coombs test, hemolysis observation and measure red cell concentration by automachine. Results: all sets of screening cell panel's DAT are negative, agglutination of antigens of some blood group systems: Rh, Lewis, Kidd, MNS, Mia, P and Duffy maintain from 3+ to 4+. Red cell concentration maintains from 3 to 5 percent and not hemolysis immediately after produce, preservation after 2 weeks and 4 weeks. Results of irregular antibodies screening test by using NIHBT's screening cell is suitale with results of irregular antibodies screening test by using National Blood Centre Thai Red Cross Society's screening cell. Conclusions: Sets of screening cell panel which were made in NIHBT are high quality to deploy irregular antibodies screening test in hospitals and transfusion centres.
