The study was conducted on 192 thyroid goiter patients treating at Viet-Tiep Friendship hospital from 1/2005 to 12/2008. Quality of life of patients after surgery assessed by SF-36 questionnaire of J. E. Ware and Sherbourne C. D. (1992). The results showed that after surgery, the quality of life of patients about "vitality" and "general health" are low (52.50 + or - 8.34 and 51.14+ or - 10.77), while the "Physical Function" and "Body pain" are high (77.42 + or - 11.10 and 80.99 + or - 20.18) compared to the total quality of life score (66.40 + or - 12.19). After surgery, the total score of quality of life increased. The factors affecting the quality of life of patients after surgery are the age and condition of the scar.
