Objective: to clarify the indications for non operative splenic injury at Viet Duc Hospital. Material and method: Prospective and retrospective study to all splenic injuries treated at Viet Duc Hospital was conducted from 2006 to 2011, the criteria of splenic injury is based on the AAST scale, on both ultrasound and CT scanner examinations. The patients should be over 2 years olds and both male and female were considered. The results were anaiysed by SPSS.11.5 Results: There were 306 cases of splenic injuries at ages from 3 to 83 years old, mostly the male and young patients accounting 75.2 percent. Almost the simple splenic injury was at 89.5 percent, and splenic injury as third degree according to the AAST presented over 52 percent. The good outcome of the non-operative splenic injury was 98.7 percent, which the degree from I to III was 100 percent, and the fourth was 91.2 percent. The non surgical indications for splenic injury were based on the degree of splenic rupture, hemodynamic and clinical examination, especially the blood pressure. Conclusions: The non surgical indications for splenic injury is now implemented more. Almost of the splenic injuries could be treated by nonoperative management event the fourth degree if the patient is well clinical observating, associated with evaluating the cr scanner and ultrasound results in the hospital having good experienced physicians and equipments.
