This is, for the first time, the combined immofixation and protein capillary electrophoresis being implemented at the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion. This research examined serum samples of 142 multiple myeloma patients administered to the institute between 2010 and 2012. All patients had monoclonal pick(s) on capillary electrophoresis spectra, among that most of cases were single protein at the V-globulin position. The frequencies of immonotypes were IgG, IgA, light chain and IgM in the decrement orders. Among the IgG and IgA immunotypes, kappa chain was seen more often than lambda one. In the cases of light chain alone, the lambda chain was dominant. Some rare immunotypes with two monoclonal peaks were also seen such as IgA-IgA, IgG-IgG and IgA-IgG combinations.
