Quan hệ Mỹ - Nhật là một trong những mối quan hệ quan trọng hiện nay trên thế giới, được xây dựng và phát triển qua nhiều thập niên. Sau khi Chiến tranh lạnh kết thúc, quan hệ Mỹ - Nhật đã có sự thay đổi về chất, có sự tác động to lớn đến tình hình thế giới. Mặc dù vẫn ẩn chứa những mâu thuẫn sâu sắc, lâu dài và khó tránh khỏi những tranh chấp nhưng có thể dự báo xu thế phát triển của quan hệ Mỹ - Nhật trong những thập niên đầu của thế kỉ XXI là vẫn duy trì trong khuôn khổ “đồng minh chiến lược”, tiếp tục vận hành theo khuôn khổ hiện nay. After the end of the Cold War, the US - Japan relationship has been changing in nature, which has tremendous impact to the world situation. Although the conflict is hidden, deep, long and hard to avoid disputes, however, it can be predicted about the development trend of the US - Japan relationship in the early decades of the XXI century to be maintained within the “strategic alliances” framework, and continue to operate under the current framework.
