Diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy based on clinical symptoms, level of serum beta hCG and ultrasound. Currently serum progesterone also contributes in the early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. A cross-sectional descriptive study was implemented on 450 cases of suspected ectopic pregnancy laparoscopic surgery in which 401 cases were diagnosed correctly and 49 cases of ectopic pregnancy were not. Most patients with ectopic pregnancy had serum progesterone 15 ng/ml (89.27 percent) and only 2.74 percent of them had progesterone concentration 25 ng/ml. At cross-sectional point of serum progesterone 15 ng/ml, the positive predictive value: 90.17 percent, negative predictive value: 18.87 percent, sensitivity: 89.28 percent, specificity: 20.41 percent.
