The cutaneous branches of the circumflex of the scapular artery have become important plastic material for soft tissue defects. But its anatomical basic still need to be studied in Vietnameses, aiming at better in clinical application. Objectives: (1) To describe their typical anatomy and possible variations
(2) To identify the measurements of the vascular pedicle. Subject and Method: 32 specimens of 16 formalin. Results: Subscapular artery is absent in 2/32 cases and the cirumflex scapular artery originate directly from axillary artery in this cases. The number of the cutaneous branches of the circumflex scapular artery can be classified into four patterns, in which the percentages of types with three arterial branches is 75 percent respectively. The average values of arterial diameter at levels from the origine of subscapular artery to the divisions of cutaneous branches of the circumflex scapular artery are all in the ranges suitable of vascular anatomosis. The total length of the vascular pedicle permits the flap to reach to the axillary and supraclavicular regions. Conclusions: the vascular pedicle of the cutaneous branches of ttle circumflex scapular artery is a reliable one, permits the flap to be used in diversity of ways.
