Backgrouds: Metabolic syndome (MS) is high risk factors of cardiovascular disease and mortality. Howerver, the MS in hypertensive patients was not well studied a mountainous region in Vietnam. Methods and Results: In this study, 341 hypertensive patients (male: 170
female: 171) were meassured high, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, blood pressure, glucose, TC, HDI-c, LD-c and TG. Diagnosed MS by International Diabetes Federation (IDF) criteria for Pacific region. The results as below: - The prevalence rate of MS was 49.9 percent
MS was observed in 34.7 percent of males and 56.7 of females and there was abvious difference between them (p0,001)
- The prevalence rate of MS in body mass index (BMI) 23 kg/m2 group and high waist hip ratio (WHR) group (85.5 percent and 56.1 percent, respectively) were higher than that BMI 23 kg/m2 group and normal WHR group (27.6 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively)
