Objective: To investigate the clinical and para-clinical changes and complications on pigs having been operated with partial hepatectomy. Subject and method: 20 healthy pigs were operated with partial hepatectomy. The follow-up parameters before and post-operation included pulse rate, blood pressure, CVP, liver enzymes, albumin, glucose, electro lyse, CBC, coagulation profile, complications and survival rate. Results: There were signifiont changes in hemodynamic between before and after partial hepatectomy (p0.05). Plasma SGOT, SGPT significantly increased in the early period of post operation, especially plasma SGOT (p0.05). Total bilirubine concentration after surgery strongly increased in comparison with before (p0.05) and then gradually decreased. The mortality rate during operation was 20 percent. The survival rate after surgery was 75 percent, ranging from 15 hours to 14 days. There were many complications after partial hepatectomy, namely, bleeding during and post-operation (40.0 percent), severe pneumoniae (20 percent), peritonitis (10) and abdominal wall abscess (10 percent). Conclusions: After partial hepatectomy, vital signs of healthy pigs were significant changes and many severe complications occurred leading to death within 14 days.
