Vietnam currently ranks second in the world among the exporting rice countries but also is one of 5 countries most severely affected by climate change, so to change the strategy of rice production in the context of climate change is an actual importance. This article has outlined the factors affecting rice production in relation to climate change those are green house gas emission sources
seawater intrusion and burning agricultural residues. The approaches to the problems of minimizing sources of factors affecting climate change adopted by two directions: reducing N2O emissions through nutrient management in specific areas and reducing CH4 emissions in way of saving fertilizers and improving soil fertility through effective use of agricultural residues (straw, rice husk). As for the research on adaptation to climate change, the solution is to focus towards the selection of the breeds tolerant of unfavorable weather conditions (cold, drought, flooding, etc.)
finding out he suitable practices for cultivation. The paper also gives the orientation rice research and development in the future.
