Thyroglossal duct cyst was common in ENT field. Objectives: to find out the surgical management and primary evaluation the recurrent rate of thyroglossal duct cyst. Patients and methods: 47 patients with thyroglossal duct cyst were diagnosed and operated in National ENT hospital from Mar 2004 to Mar 2005. This was retrospective study. Results: the mean age was 20.9, the range of age was from 2 to 72. The site the most frequent of cyst was thyro-hyoid region (78.8 percent). The ducts and cysts could attach to anterior or posterior face of hyoid bone, with equal rate. The most of patients had favorable postoperation. The recurrent rate after 6 months follow up was 8.8 percent. Conclusions: Sistrunk's operation was the treatment of choice, our recurrent rate was high. It had to respect the rules of Sistrunk's operation.
