The complexation of Cu(II) with 4-(3-methyl-2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (3-Me-PAR) has been investigated by spectrophotometric method. The colour Cu(II)-(3-Me-PAR) complex, with composition 1:2, is formed most favourably at pH = 9.5-10.3 and has an absorption maximum 510 nm whereas that of 3-Me-PAR is at 414 nm. It was shown that the complex of Cu(II)-(3-Me-P AR) is stable with time in accordance with the Beer Law in a rathe large limit interval, which could, therefore, be utilized for microdetermination of Fe from different resources.
