Purpose: Study the change in hemodynamic of central retinal artery in primary glaucoma eyes. Subject: 132 eyes of 66 glaucoma patients treated in glaucoma department from 10/2002 to 6/2003. Control group: 94 eyes of 47 normal Vietnamese adult. Methods: observation, comparative study. Result: In glaucoma group: Vs (velocity systolic) 9.662.19 cm/s
Vd (velocity diastolic) 2.880.46 cm/s
RI (Resistance Index) 0.701 0.0047. In closure angle glaucoma group: Vs = 9.36 + or - 2.13 cm/s, Vd = 2.73 + or - 0.906cm/s, RI = 0.708 + or - 0.045. In opened angle glaucoma group: Vs = 10.00 + or - 2.23 cm/s, Vd = 3.058 + or - 0.99 cm/s, RI = 0.694 + or - 0.047. In control group Vs = 12.19 + or - 0.80 cm/s, Vd= 4.22 + or - 0.46 cm/s, RI = 0.63 j: 0.023. Variation hemodynamic of central retinal artery between glaucoma group and control group is significantly (P 0.001) and no significantly between closure angle and opened angle glaucoma (P 0.05). Vs, Vd decrease and RI increase from early to late stage and it correspond to optic disc defect. Conclusion: In glaucoma eyes, the velocity of central retinal artery decrease and RI increase. In late stage the change is more serious.
