Nested-PCR assay using the specific primers were designed on the 18 small subunit ribosomal RNA gene to detect four human malaria parasites. The composition of malaria parasites was studied in Quang Binh and Quang Tri provices by PCR . The results of PCR showed that: - In Quang Binh province, malaria parasites composition were abundant with presence of 3 human parasite species: P. falciparum was contained 57.63 percent. P. vivax 40.68 percent and P. malariae 1.69 percent. The rate of mixed infection was 21.88 percent. - In Quang Tri province, malaria parasites composition were abundant with presence of 2 human parasite species: P. falciparum was contained 62.31 percent and P. vivax 37.69 percent. The rate of mixed infection was 16.07 percent.
