Objective: to investigate the knowledge, attitude and practice of people about leprosy in the two districts of Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provinces. Study design: Cross-sectional study. Results: 427 people were interviewed. There was 92,3 percent of them being Kinh ethnic and 52,9 percent was fa mer. A haft of interviewee has general knowledge on leprosy, 77,3 percent of them knowing the way of transmission, 80,8 percent of people answering correctly what are the early symptoms of the disease. 82,2 percent of them knew that the disease can be cured if diagnosed early and 49,4 percent of them expressed the positive attitude toward outpatient treatment (at home treatment) of leprosy. However, there were 37,9 percent of interviewee was afraid of leprosy and 78,0 percent of them did not agreed on allowing leprosy patients participated in the public events. More than 50 percent of interviewed people still expressed the leprosy-related stigmatization and discrimination behaviors. Conclusion: There were large proportions of people having good knowledge, positive attitudes and proper behaviors toward leprosy and leprosy-related stigma and discrimination. However, the fear of the disease as well as leprosyrelated stigma and discrimination still persisted in the communities.
