Subject: 1/ To study the treatment of the Surviving sepsis campaign-SSC at some ICUs of Vietnam
2/ To evaluate the impact of compliance on mortality. Objects: 03 ICUs with 49 severe sepsis and septic shock patients in Viet Nam for 1 month (07/2009). Method: the prospective observational study. Results: mortality rate was 42,9 percent, achievement rates for the bundle targets were: lactate measurement, 51 percent
blood cultures, 61,2 percent
broad-spectrum antibiotics, 80 percent
fluids + or - vasopressors, 40,8 percent
central venous pressure or = 8 mmHg, 18,4 percent
central or mixed venous oxygen saturation, 8,1 percent
low-dose steroids, 47,5 percent
drotrecogin alfa, 0 percent
glucose control, 14,3 percent
lung-protective ventilation, 36.7 percent. Compliance rates for the entire resuscitation and management bundles were 12,2 percent and 8,2 percent respectively. On logistic regression analysis, achievement of the targets for blood cultures, antibiotics independently predicted decreased mortality.
