Introduction: Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is the primary cause for cervical cancer. HPV has 2 groups of risks: the lowrisk group causes benign tumours, and the high-risk group causes pre-cancer and cancer, especially cervical cancer. There are currently many methods to detect HPV, among which the most accurate one is HPV type test using PCR. Objective study was "Determining rates of HPV types in female communities of Thai Nguyen, Hue and Can Tho". Research subject and method: Sectional descriptive research via HPV type test using PCR techniques at the National Hospital of Dennatology with 3005 PAP smear taken from women in Thai Nguyen, Hue and Can Tho. The reaserch timeframe was May 2011 - December 200. Results: HPV infection rate was 9.3 percent, including 3.1 percent in Thai Nguyen, 2.9 percent in Thai Nguyen and 3.3 percent in Can Tho. The age group with highest infection rate was 30-39 (30 percent), while the age group with lowest infection rate was 20-29 (14.6 percent).
