To develop a CHIKV-specific diagnostic test, CHIKV E1 protein was expressed using an E.coli expression system and purified by the Ni-NTA matrix. Then, the recombinant CHIKV E1 protein was evaluated by Coomassie blue stained SDS-PAGE and Western blot using anti HIS-Tag antibodies. Initial applications of E1 recombinant protein detect CHIKV IgG in 30 plasma samples of CHIKV fever patients, findings 50 percent of the samples are positive by Western blot.
