Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) causes epidemic outbreaks of CHIK fever in Africa, India, South-East Asia, and recently Southern Europe. CHIKV fever is characterized by high fever, rash and polyarthralgia. To develop a CHIKV-specific serological diagnostic test, E1 recombinant protein expressed vector was designed and expressed on the E.coli system. SDS-PAGE and Western blot were applied and analyzed to show that the recombinant protein was expressed and the molecular weights of structural E1 proteins was 44 Kd.
