Objectives: studying on number and characteristics of the Rh(-) voluntary donors at Hai Phong city in 3 years (2008-2010) and the methods to manage and maintain this donor source. Subjects and methods: crosssectional, retrospectively through the records of 32 Rh(-) voluntary donors detected in 3 years (2008-2010). Results: 32 blood group Rh(-) donors found
62.5 percent out of them are females, 21.9 percent, 62.5 percent and 12.6 percent aged in the range of 18-25, 26-49 and 50-60 years old respectively
12.5 percent, 28 percent, 53 percent and 6.5 percent have the blood group A, B, O and AB respectively
22 units of Rh(-) type blood were collected
the Rh(-) donors were managed exactly by their personal informations and given instructions to be ready fordonating blood. Conclusion: The authors found 32 Rh(-) voluntary donors, collected and used 22 Rh (-) type blood units in 3 years (2008-2010) at Haiphong city. The authors also managed very well the personal information of Rh(-) donors and adviced them to participate in willing blood donation.
