Objectives: Evaluation of effective and side effects of Amphotericin B in treatment pulmonary fungal n infection. Patients and methods: descriptive study of c 30 patients with confirmed pulmonary fungal infection in the Respiratory Center- Bach Mai hospital from 01/01/2007 to 31/12/2010. Results: Total dose: 1.256 + or - 0.663 g
average treatment time: 14.3 + or - 45.97 days
results of treatment: cured 20 percent, improved 46.6 percent, failed 33.3 percent
side effects: fever (63.3 percent), chills (23.3 percent), dyspepsia (26.6 percent), phlebitis (16.6 percent), anemia (96.7 percent), hypokalemia (80 percent), increased transaminases (73.3 percent), renal failure (56.6 percent). Conclusion: Amphotericin B is effective treatment for pulmonary fungal infection, but should be closely monitored to detect the side effects.
