Laccase from prokaryote are interested in research because of their characteristics such as thermal stability, chemical resistance and pH stability. Laccase has a wide range of substrates including phenolic and non-phenolic compounds as well as other persistent organic pollutants. Actinomycete strain XKBH13 was isolated from herbicide/dioxin contaminated soil in Bien Hoa former military base. This strain produced laccase with highest activity of 3.747 U/l after 24 hours in cultural medium containing malt extract and mediator, contaminated soil extract added as carbon source. Streptomyces sp. XKBH13 showed growth capability in large range of pH from 4-9 and produced high laccase activity at pH 6,5. The best laccase production was detected in medium containing 1mM catechol as an inducer source. After 7 days cultivation, XKBH13 degraded 67.07 percent pyrene with more than 76 mg/L at initial concentration. Based on colonial morphology, sporephore observed by scanning electronic microscope and partial sequence of 16S rRNA gene, the strain XKBHI3 could be classified as Streptomyces XKBH13. The partial 16S rRNA gene sequence of Streptomyces sp. XKBH13 was deposited in the GenBank with the assession number HM210874.
