The CXCL12/CXCR4 axis plays an important role in the healing damaged tissue and inflammation response. For cancer, this axis is implicated in tumor progression including angiogenesis and metastasis. Base on the role of CXCL12 in tumor pathogenesis, the authors study the polymorphism of CXCL12 gene (CXCL12G801A, a single nucleotide polymorphism in the 3 untranslated region) and its association with colorectal cancer.
