Objective: To detect microdeletion in AZFa,b,c,d regions on Y chromosome by using multiplex PCR analysis. Subjects and Methods: A total of 278 infertile men with non-obstructive azoospermia or oligospermia were selected for DNA study of Y chromosome microdeletion in AZFa,b,c,d region. Performing three M-PCR with 10 markers to detect 6 loci on Y chromosome, including 4 loci on the long arm of Y chromosome are AZFa,b,c,d regions
2 internal control fragments on the short arm of Y chromosome are SRY and ZFY. Results: 27/278 patients (9,71 percent) showed microdeletion in AZFa,b,c,d regions on Y chromosome, that include microdeletion in AZFd, AZFc,d and AZFb,c,d with the highest and the same rate: 7/27 (25,93)
AZFc: 3/27 (11,11 percent)
AZFa,b,c,d: 2/27 (7,4 percent)
AZFb: 1/27 (3,7 percent). Conclusion: Using M-PCR, the authors found that 27/278 (9,71 percent) infertile men (azoospermia or oligospermia) have microdeletion on Y chromosome.
