Obejective: Evaluation of the complications intraoperatively and postoperatively of upper ureteral stones treatment by retroperitoneal-laparoscopic approach. Material and methods: Prospective study was conducted on 750 patiens underwent retroperitoneal ureterolithotomy from Oct. 2004 to Jan. 2012 at Viet-Tiep Hospital. Result: 370 males and 380 females were at the age of 22 to 71. Operative time: min 20, max 120 minutes, mean 59.4 + or - 22.4 minutes. Hospital stays were ranged from 2 to 19 days, mean: 5.2 + or - 3.3 day. 72 patiens (9.2 percent), who has urine leakage postoperatively. The open operation: 29 cas (3,9 percent) due to migration of stone toward kidney. Conclusion: The technique of retroperitoneal ureterolithotomy is highly effective anh safety. This is a kind of operation that can be applied universally.
