The purpose of the study is to assess the results of the prevention of HIV/AIDS in Hai Phong from 1994 to 2012 and an epidemiological situation current of HIV infection as well as an epidemiological direction of HIV infection in the next time. Research based on the results of monitoring HIV/AIDS and voluntary counseling HIV testing in health facilities in Hai Phong and sentinel surveillance on the subject: injecting drug users, prostitutes and women pregnancy from 1994 to 2012. Resultat: The total number of HIV infections in Hai Phong to December, 2012: 10,370 people, including 7017 people living with HIV and 3253 people die of AIDS. In the peak period (2002-2007), having 1,600 new infected cas/1 year (2003), nearly 800 cases AIDS/1 year (2007), over 400 cases death due to AIDS/1 year (2003, 2004). In 2012, all three indicators have decreased, only about 300 new cases infected, 100 cas AIDS and deaths from AIDS negligible. There are changes in the epidemiology of HIV infection in terms of age, object and transmission. The rate of new HIV infections in young age, young people tend to decrease, but in middle age tend to increase. Prevalence of HIV infections in injecting drug users (HIV transmission through blood) tends to decrease up, but the rate of new HIV infections in prostitutes (HIV through sexual transmission) tends to increase up, especially in the group of street prostitutes. The rate of new HIV infections female are increasing. Prevalence of HIV infections in pregnant women in 2012 is higher than a few years ago.
