As survey on 241 patients with type 2 diabetes aged 30 to 75 year olds inpatients at Endocrinological departement of Hai Duong general hospital. 1- Describe the actual situation of overweight and obesity in type 2 diabetes at Hai Duong general hospital. - The prevalence of overweight and obesity in type 2 diabetes was 72.2 percent by waist circle (WC) differences from BMI (39.8 percent) (x2
p 0.05). - 55.2 percent patients with normal BMI had abnormal WC, only 54 percent patients with abnormalthe authors had overweight and obesity by BMI. - The prevalence of overweight and obesity in the group aged or = 40 years higher, more and more by age. - The female had tendency abdomen fat but male body fat. The prevalence of overweight and obesity in male 64.4 percent and female 75.8 percent by WC, otherwise in male 45.3 percent and female 34.7 percent by BMI. 2- Difine the prevalence of risk factors of cardiovascular relationship to overweight and obesity in type 2 diabetes: - 75.4 percent patients had overweight and obesity relationship with tobaco, the other one no-smoking. - 80.8 percent patients with hypertension had overweight and obesity, the other one normal. - Over 77.7 percent patients with dyslipidemia had overweight and obesity, the other one normal. Thus, overweight and obesity in type 2 diabetes was a special problem, unusual overweight and obesity is the term should be use and defining by WC better than BMI in diagnosis for overweight and obesity and screening risk factors of cardiovascular.
