The descriptive cross-sectional survey on 216 women at reproductive age (15-49) in Thai Binh province in 2012 to access their awareness of prevention of cervical cancer. Results: The study subjects most qualified the secondary school education (51.4 percent). The sources of information about cervical cancer for the women were mainly from the Central TV channels (68.0 percent), followed by health workers (55.7 percent). Up to 12.5 percent of the surveyed women did not know what the consequences of cervical cancer are. There were very few women (9.6 percent) knew about HPV vaccination as a preventive solution
the measure of routine gynecological exam for early detection of cervical cancer was mentioned by only 62.6 percent of the women. For signs of cervical cancer that women can detect by themselves, one that was mentioned the most by the surveyed women was the vaginal bleeding, at the rate of only at 34.3 percent
the other signs were reported by low rates of the surveyed women
up to 34.3 percent of the subjects did not know any signs. Provincial general hospital and Gyn-ob hospital of the province was the addresses for cervical cancer screening which were reported by the highest rate of the surveyed women (59.7 percent).
