A cross-sectional study was implemented from 5/2012 to 7/2012 with 321 adults from 40 to 60 years old with the objective: to describe the situation of hypertension of people from 40 to 60 years old in five communes of Hoanh Bo district, Quang Ninh province. The results showed that adults from 40 to 60 years old with pre-hypertension, hypertension stage I, hypertension stage II accounted for 15.3 percent, 12.2 percent and 4.0 percent, respectively. Average systolic blood pressure of male was highger than in female (124.3 + or - 14.4 mmHg versus 115,7 + or - 17.6 mmHg) corresponding to the average diastolic blood pressure of male was higher in women (76.7 + or - 11.0 mmHg versus 70.9 + or - 10.4 mmHg) significantly with p 0.01. Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure of adults were increasing with age. Hypertension percentage of farmer was the highest with 9.3 percent.
