Objective: To study the pattern of delivery care seeking practice and related factors in Ba Vi district, Hanoi. Methods: A restrospective cohort of 10,060 delivered women through quarterly household interviews in Fila Bavi DSS during the period 1999-2010. Results: The proportions of deliveries at health facilities and deliveries supported by health workers were high (98 percent and 99.2 percent, respectively) and increased over time. Proportion of deliveries at commune health centers decreased while numbers of giving birth in hospitals increased, especially among women who had higher education, were not farmers, belonged to high economic groups and delivered a male baby. Conclusion: The proportions of deliveries at health facilities and deliveries supported by health workers were high and inc
reased. However, it is necessary to improve the .quality of delivery care at commune health centers to attract more women giving births there and thus contribute to reduce the oveload of hospitals.
