In all experiments, late blight (Phytophthora infestans (Mont) de Bary) infection is not considerable. The level of virus infection was low for both hill side land and paddy field in Sa Pa. In the lands for conducting experiments, potato planted in the paddy field in Sa Pa had no infection by tuber brown ant, no infection by mites (Polyphagus esculentus), slight infections by aphids (Myzus persiceae), by viruses, thrips (Thrips palm) and bacterial wilt (Ralstonia solanacearom). Therefore, in the 3 kinds of land mentioned abbrevation, the paddy field in Sa Pa is the most suitable for potato production in general and for seed potato production in particular. Potato planted in the paddy field in the Red river delta (RRD) had high density population of aphid, thrips and mites, high level of virus infection, not so suitable for seed potato production. Potato planted in the hin side land in Sa Pa had serious infection by tuber brown ants and bacterial wilt, not suitable for potato and seed potato production. It is possible to formulate the paddy fields in Sa Pa highlands to become seed potato production areas for Northern part of Vietnam.
