An investigation of 1,614 stool samples collected at four study sites in Binh Thuan province showed an overall soil-transmitted helminthiasis (STH) infection rate of 25.09 percent
of which the infection rates of hookworms, ascarids and hairworms were 21.44 percent, 3.66 percent and 0 percent, respectively. Women were more likely to get infected from STH than men (26.30 percent vs. 23.77 percent), but the difference was not significant (P 0.05). The K'Ho ethnic group significantly had higher STH infection than the Champa group, (P 0.05), particularly with hookworms (21.44 percent vs. 3.66 percent). The infections of STH were mainly in the age group of 20-29, especially those aged from 60 years.
