The first phytochemical investigation of the rhizomes of Alpinia napoensis H. Dong & G. J. Xu (Zingiberaceae) led to the isolation of three diarylheptanoids, 1,7-diphenyl-6E-hepten-3-one, 1,7-diphenyl-4E,6E-heptadien-3-one, and 1,7-diphenyl-5-hydroxy-6E-hepten-3-one
four flavonoids, pinocembrin, pinocembrin 5-0-methyl ether, naringenin 5-0-methyl ether, and cardamomin
and two sterols, -sitosterol and stigmasterol. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis.
