Ziconium oxide powder has been synthesised at low temperature (600°C) by the combustion of gel prepared from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and zirconyl nitrate. Zr02 characterization is examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and BET (Brunaure-Emmet-Teller) measurements. Further thermal treatment at 600°C in 1.5h yields the single phase ZrO2 with average primary size 50 nm. It specific surface area is 67.53 m2/g for ZrO2.
